The Russian-installed authorities in Crimea have announced their intention to sell approximately 100 Ukrainian properties, with one of the properties belonging to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy.
Vladimir Konstantinov, the speaker of the Crimean parliament, disclosed that these nationalized properties would be made available for sale shortly. The authorities have already conducted the first eight auctions for properties previously owned by Ukrainian business figures.
The total value of the sale contracts resulting from these auctions exceeded 815 million roubles, equivalent to approximately $8.51 million, as confirmed by Konstantinov in a statement released on the Telegram messaging app.
This development adds a layer of complexity to the ongoing geopolitical tensions in the region, as the sale of Ukrainian properties in Crimea, which was annexed by Russia in 2014, remains a contentious issue. The inclusion of President Zelenskiy’s residence in this planned sale underscores the sensitivity and potential diplomatic ramifications of such actions by the Russian-installed authorities in Crimea.
