NTA Suspends Private Agency After Power Failure Disrupts AIAPGET Exam in Jaipur

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has suspended the empanelment of private examination-conducting firm Eduquity Career Technologies Pvt. Ltd. after a power failure disrupted the All India Ayush Post Graduate Entrance Test (AIAPGET) 2026 at a Jaipur examination centre, affecting dozens of candidates.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the NTA confirmed that it has served a show-cause notice to the company for lapses in conducting the examination. Pending the outcome of the inquiry, the agency has suspended Eduquity’s empanelment with immediate effect.

The disruption occurred at Shri Satya Sai PG College in Jaipur, where 192 candidates were appearing for the AIAPGET examination. According to the NTA, a power outage prevented 49 candidates from completing their test, forcing the agency to arrange a fresh examination for the affected students.

The NTA announced that the re-examination will be conducted on September 1, 2026, at Rajasthan College of Engineering for Women in Jaipur. The exam is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m., and revised admit cards will be issued to the affected candidates with updated details.

Expressing regret over the incident, the agency said it was committed to ensuring that all impacted candidates receive a fair opportunity to complete the examination. It added that further information regarding the re-test would be communicated through official channels.

The incident comes at a sensitive time for the NTA, which has been facing heightened scrutiny over examination management and quality-control issues. Earlier this week, the agency announced re-examinations for the UGC-NET subjects of English, Commerce, and Sociology after errors were detected in question papers by an expert review panel.

In response to a series of controversies involving paper leaks, question-paper mistakes, and examination irregularities over the past two years, the Union Education Ministry recently directed the NTA to strengthen accountability mechanisms. The agency has since removed around 600 subject experts, introduced a four-tier question-paper verification system, and initiated plans to relocate its headquarters from south Delhi’s Okhla area to central Delhi.

The latest AIAPGET disruption is likely to intensify calls for stricter oversight and stronger infrastructure safeguards during high-stakes national examinations.
