Ranveer Allahbadia Questioned For Five Hours By Maharashtra Cyber Officials Over Controversial Remarks

YouTuber and podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia, widely known as BeerBiceps, was interrogated by Maharashtra Cyber officials for nearly five hours on Monday regarding controversial remarks he made on Samay Raina’s online show, ‘India’s Got Latent.’ Allahbadia, who was questioned alongside fellow content creator Ashish Chanchlani, stated that he attended the show as a favor to his friend Raina and did not receive any payment for his appearance, according to sources cited by NDTV.

Allahbadia’s First Public Appearance Since Controversy

This marked Allahbadia’s first public appearance following the backlash over his statements. He and Chanchlani arrived at the Maharashtra Cyber headquarters in Navi Mumbai around 11:30 AM. Their statements were recorded, and the interrogation continued until late evening. Allahbadia, wearing a black face mask to avoid media attention, exited the building around 5 PM, taking a private cab. Chanchlani left an hour later in his vehicle.

Legal Action and Supreme Court Protection

The controversy stems from Allahbadia’s comments on sensitive topics, which led to allegations of obscenity. The Supreme Court intervened on February 18, granting him interim protection from arrest but condemning his remarks as “vulgar.” The court also directed him to cooperate with the investigation, submit his passport to the Thane police, and seek permission before traveling abroad. His next court hearing is scheduled for March 3.

Over 50 Individuals Summoned in Investigation

Maharashtra Cyber has summoned more than 50 people linked to the show, including influencers, comedians, judges, and other guests. The authorities are investigating whether the show violated laws related to obscenity and public decency.

Multiple FIRs Registered

Several FIRs have been lodged against Allahbadia, including one in Guwahati on February 17 by a local complainant. The case also names Samay Raina, Ashish Chanchlani, comedians Jaspreet Singh, Apoorva Makhija, and Rakhi Sawant, who appeared as a guest on the show. Sawant has been summoned by Maharashtra Cyber and is expected to appear before the officials on February 27.

Additionally, the National Commission for Women (NCW) summoned Allahbadia, Raina, and others on February 17. However, some individuals cited safety concerns and logistical issues for not appearing in person. Allahbadia requested a three-week postponement due to reported death threats, and his hearing has now been rescheduled to March 6.

As the legal proceedings continue, Allahbadia remains under scrutiny, with his statements and actions being closely monitored by authorities and the public alike.
