Two Bahraich Violence Accused Shot in Police Encounter

Two men accused of being involved in recent communal violence in Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh, were shot dead in a police encounter on Tuesday. The incident occurred when the accused reportedly tried to escape while being transported by the authorities for further investigation.

According to official reports, the two men, who were previously arrested in connection with the violent clashes that rocked the region earlier this month, attempted to flee custody while the police were transferring them between locations. The police responded swiftly, and the suspects were shot during an exchange of fire.

Superintendent of Police Prashant Verma confirmed that the accused were involved in the violence that led to widespread unrest in Bahraich, and were also suspected of having links to local criminal elements. “When they tried to escape, we had no choice but to respond with force,” Verma stated. He further added that the accused were rushed to the hospital but were declared dead on arrival.

The Bahraich violence, which began as a minor altercation, escalated into large-scale communal clashes, leaving several injured and causing property damage. The police had made multiple arrests in connection with the riots, and the situation in the district has since been under strict security to prevent further escalation.
