Union Minister Meenakashi Lekhi on G20 dinner invite row

Union Minister Meenakashi Lekhi claimed on Tuesday that the term “Bharat” was given by our ancestors after Rashtrapati Bhawan sent out an invitation for a G20 luncheon on September 9 in the name of the “President of Bharat” rather than India.

Meenakashi Lekhi stated in a statement to ANI, “Our Constitution declares that India is Bharat. Our forebears gave this name, “Bharat,” to the country. According to “Vishnupuran,” “Bharat” refers to the region north of the “Samudra” and south of the “Himalayas.”

In contrast, BJP has focused on India against Bharat, according to Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi, whose party is committed to fighting for both India and Bharat.

He claimed that it appears that the BJP is unable to acknowledge that the INDIA alliance has received support from the general public and that, as a result of the formation of the INDIA alliance, a renewed enmity has formed inside the BJP ranks.

According to Gaurav Gogoi, “The BJP has no issue with the phrase ‘India’ from 2014 to 2023. A new enmity has emerged in their hearts as a result of the creation of the INDIA alliance. They find it difficult to understand that the people have approved of the INDIA alliance.

The BJP is persistently attempting to divert attention away from crucial concerns like unemployment, inflation, the Adani investigation, China, Ladakh, J-K, and Manipur. In contrast to the BJP, we are working for India and Bharat, the speaker continued.

Pushkar Singh Dhami, the chief minister of Uttarakhand, stated on Tuesday that by changing the word “India” to “Bharat” on the invitation card for the banquet being held at Rashtrapati Bhavan during the G20 Summit, the Indian government has dealt another blow to the slavery mentality.

“A further setback for the slavery mindset. Every Indian should feel happy to see “The President of Bharat” printed on the invitation to the banquet at Rashtrapati Bhavan that will take place during the G20 Summit. Mother Bharat, long live!,” he exclaimed.

The Indian Constitution’s Article 1 reads, “Name and territory of the Union.—(1) India, that is, Bharat, shall be a Union of States.”
