PM Modi claims ‘insider info’ on Tejashwi’s CM nomination, accuses RJD of ‘putting gun to Congress’s head’

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday launched a sharp attack on the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD)-Congress Mahagathbandhan during his election rally in Arrah, Bihar. He alleged that the Congress was “forced” to declare Tejashwi Yadav as the alliance’s chief ministerial candidate and claimed to have “insider information” about how the decision was made behind closed doors.

“Just a day before nomination filing, there was gundagardi going on behind closed doors,” Modi said while addressing a large gathering. “Congress did not want an RJD chief minister, but the RJD did not let go of the opportunity. They put a gun to Congress’s head and stole the CM’s post,” he added, using the Hindi phrase “kanpatti pe katta” to describe the coercion.

The Prime Minister accused the RJD of “gundagardi” and claimed that the Congress had no say in the alliance’s manifesto. “This is the real face of the Mahagathbandhan — chaos, bullying, and betrayal,” he remarked. Modi contrasted this with the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), asserting that the ruling coalition had worked “hand in hand for Bihar’s development.”

He went on to warn voters that the opposition alliance would “break each other’s heads” after the election and return Bihar to the era of “jungle raj.” “On one side stands NDA’s governance and progress; on the other is the misrule and darkness of the RJD era that emptied out Bihar,” Modi said.

The Prime Minister also accused the opposition of trying to “erase Bihar’s identity” by allegedly supporting “infiltrators.” Referring to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s “Voter Adhikar Yatra,” Modi claimed that the alliance was “dedicated, body and soul, to saving infiltrators.”

Voting for the 243-member Bihar Assembly will take place in two phases on November 6 and 11, with the counting of votes scheduled for November 14. Modi’s remarks mark an escalation in the BJP’s campaign narrative, which seeks to pit NDA’s “governance and development” against what he described as the “gundagardi and misrule” of the Mahagathbandhan.
