Amanatullah Khan, senior leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), emerged from the Enforcement Directorate (ED) office in the early hours of the morning following a marathon questioning session related to his alleged involvement in the Waqf Board case.
Khan, who serves as the chairman of the Delhi Waqf Board, was summoned by the ED for interrogation regarding irregularities and financial mismanagement within the Waqf Board, which oversees the management of Muslim properties in the capital.
The AAP leader arrived at the ED office earlier in the evening and was subjected to extensive questioning by the investigative agency. The interrogation extended into the late hours of the night, eventually concluding in the early hours of the morning.
Sources within the Enforcement Directorate revealed that Khan was grilled over various aspects of the Waqf Board case, including allegations of corruption, embezzlement of funds, and unauthorized transactions involving Waqf properties.
The late-night interrogation of Amanatullah Khan underscores the seriousness with which the Enforcement Directorate is pursuing its investigation into the alleged scam surrounding the Delhi Waqf Board. The case has drawn significant attention due to its implications for transparency and accountability in the management of religious endowments.
Responding to queries from reporters gathered outside the ED office, Khan maintained his innocence and reiterated his cooperation with the investigative process. “I have fully cooperated with the Enforcement Directorate during questioning and have nothing to hide,” he stated before leaving the premises.
The Waqf Board case has been a subject of contention in Delhi’s political landscape, with opposition parties accusing the AAP government of negligence and mismanagement in the administration of Waqf properties. The involvement of senior AAP leaders, including Amanatullah Khan, has further intensified scrutiny over the alleged irregularities.
As the investigation into the Waqf Board case continues, Amanatullah Khan’s late-night interrogation by the Enforcement Directorate serves as a stark reminder of the challenges facing authorities in combating corruption and ensuring accountability in public institutions.
