Melania Trump’s ‘Be Best’ Post Sparks Uproar, Netizens Demand Epstein Files Release

First Lady Melania Trump faced intense criticism over the weekend after posting about her Be Best campaign on Instagram. Although she has largely remained out of the public spotlight during Donald Trump’s second administration, her latest social media post has reignited public scrutiny—not for her initiative, but for what many feel she left unsaid.

On Saturday, Melania wrote, “America’s foster youth received a $30 million housing commitment in yesterday’s FY26 THUD appropriations bill,” referring to the latest funding push supported by Representative Steve Womack and the House Appropriations Committee. The initiative falls under the umbrella of her Be Best campaign, which was launched during her husband’s first presidential term in 2018 and initially focused on children’s well-being, online safety, and opioid abuse. It later expanded to include youth-focused programs and, more recently, housing support for foster children.

“Thank you @rep_stevewomack and the House Appropriations Committee for supporting this key priority of Fostering the Future, a BE BEST initiative,” she added in her post.

Melania had previously said in a January Fox News interview that she intends to “expand Be Best” to continue addressing children’s issues.

However, rather than applause, Melania’s post was met with fierce criticism. Many social media users used the comments section to call for the release of files related to Jeffrey Epstein, the late convicted sex offender with alleged ties to powerful elites.

“Best release the Epstein files!!!” one user wrote bluntly. Another commented, “Can you Be Best – and release the Epstein Files?!?!”

A third chimed in with, “Be best released the Epstein files,” while others referenced Melania’s infamous “I really don’t care, do you?” jacket from her visit to a child migrant detention center in 2018.

One commenter stated, “Can’t be best when everyone is poor and hungry,” voicing broader frustration over the perceived disconnect between elite advocacy and real-world issues.

The backlash also comes amid growing divisions within Trump’s MAGA base, as critics inside the camp continue to press for transparency around Epstein-related documents, which many believe were mishandled or deliberately withheld during Trump’s presidency.

As Melania attempts to revive her public role through children’s welfare efforts, the response from the public shows that controversies from the past continue to cast a long shadow over the Trumps—even when the message appears apolitical.
