A shocking incident has emerged from Gonda district in Uttar Pradesh, where a woman allegedly threatened her husband with a gruesome murder, referencing the infamous Meerut case. According to a report by news agency PTI, the woman warned her husband that he could meet the same fate as the merchant navy employee whose body was found packed in a drum and concealed with cement after being killed by his wife and her lover.
The incident took place on Saturday, March 29, 2025, in Gonda. A purported video of the altercation has surfaced online, showing a heated argument outside a house. The footage reportedly depicts the woman repeatedly hitting her husband with a wiper before engaging in a verbal confrontation.
Police Complaints Filed by Both Parties
Both the husband and wife lodged complaints at the local police station on Saturday. Authorities have initiated an investigation and are examining CCTV footage related to the incident.
A Love Triangle Unfolds
The man, identified as Dharmendra Kushwaha, is a junior engineer at Gonda’s Jal Nigam and originally hails from Jhansi. His wife, Maya Maurya, belongs to Bali district in Uttar Pradesh.
In his complaint, Kushwaha stated that they had a love marriage in 2016 and had a daughter. Over the years, he purchased three four-wheelers in Maya’s name and continued paying the installments. Additionally, he bought land in her name in 2022 and entrusted the house construction to her relative, Neeraj Maurya, who is now a co-accused in his complaint.
According to Kushwaha, Maya and Neeraj grew close during the construction period, particularly after Neeraj’s wife passed away. On July 7, 2024, Kushwaha allegedly caught them in an objectionable position. When he objected, he was physically assaulted.
Following the incident, Maya reportedly left their house but returned on August 25, 2024, with Neeraj. She allegedly took a gold chain and cash before leaving again. Kushwaha filed a complaint regarding this on September 1, 2024.
The Saturday Altercation
The latest conflict erupted when Maya allegedly threatened to kill Kushwaha’s mother. When he protested, both he and his mother were allegedly attacked by Maya and Neeraj. During the confrontation, Maya reportedly warned her husband, saying, “If you say too much, I will get you chopped and packed in a drum like the Meerut massacre.”
Maya’s Counter Allegations
In her complaint, Maya denied her husband’s claims and accused him of domestic violence. She alleged that Kushwaha had forced her to undergo four abortions. She also claimed that he physically assaulted her in July 2024, leading her to file a complaint at the women’s police station.
Maya further stated that Kushwaha had initiated divorce proceedings and forcibly removed her from their home.
Police Investigation Underway
Kotwali Police Station SHO Vivek Trivedi confirmed that some legal cases between the couple are already pending in court. The police have launched an investigation into the latest altercation and are reviewing CCTV footage.
“We have started an investigation into the incident, and relevant evidence is being analyzed,” Trivedi said.
As the probe continues, the case highlights ongoing domestic disputes and the alarming trend of violent threats escalating into serious legal battles.
