PM Modi inaugurates Seva Teerth, vows to fulfill aspirations of 140 crore Indians

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday inaugurated the newly constructed Seva Teerth building complex in New Delhi, describing it as a symbol of India’s renewed commitment to its people. Addressing the nation for the first time from the new Prime Minister’s Office, Modi said the Seva Teerth represents a decisive break from India’s colonial past and embodies the aspirations of 140 crore Indians.

The Seva Teerth complex consists of three state-of-the-art buildings that now house the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), the National Security Council Secretariat, and the Cabinet Secretariat. In his address, Modi highlighted the vision behind the new structures, emphasizing that they were designed not to serve any monarch or foreign power, but to serve the people of India.

“I can say with pride that Seva Teerth and Kartavya Bhawans are built to fulfil aspirations of Indians, not of any monarch,” the Prime Minister stated during the inauguration of Kartavya Bhawan 1 and 2. He further stressed that the new buildings are a manifestation of India’s democratic values and its drive for efficient, transparent governance.

Modi also took a moment to reflect on the historical significance of the South Block and North Block, iconic buildings in the heart of New Delhi that previously housed the central administration. According to the Prime Minister, these structures were built during the colonial era with an intent to maintain British control over India for centuries. The Seva Teerth, in contrast, is envisioned as a symbol of freedom, self-reliance, and citizen-centric governance.

The inauguration of Seva Teerth and Kartavya Bhawans comes amid the government’s broader efforts to modernize administrative infrastructure while preserving India’s cultural ethos. The new buildings feature modern facilities for ministers, officials, and administrative staff, reflecting a commitment to efficiency, innovation, and national security.

Officials noted that the Seva Teerth will not only enhance the functionality of the PMO but also serve as a landmark reflecting India’s ambitions in the 21st century. By bringing together critical arms of governance under one roof, the complex aims to streamline decision-making and foster better coordination across departments.
