Guwahati police have apprehended five Bangladeshi nationals who allegedly entered India illegally. The arrests were made following a tip-off and subsequent surveillance by local authorities.
The police revealed that the individuals were detained in a coordinated raid conducted in the early hours of Tuesday. “We received intelligence reports about the presence of illegal immigrants in the area and took immediate action,” said a senior police official. “All five individuals are currently in custody, and we are conducting thorough investigations to determine the circumstances of their entry and any potential connections to larger networks.”
The arrested individuals, whose identities have not been disclosed, are believed to have crossed the border through porous sections.
