Meera Bagh Stabbing Case: Minor Lured and Attacked Over Alleged Relationship in Delhi

A shocking case of violence has emerged from Meera Bagh in West Delhi, where a minor boy was allegedly stabbed multiple times and thrown into a drain after being targeted over his reported relationship with the sister of one of the accused. Police said the attackers believed the victim had died before attempting to dispose of the body.

According to officials, the main accused has been identified as Mandeep alias Monu (26), who was arrested by the Crime Branch after an investigation was launched following the incident. His associate, Shivam, remains absconding and is currently being searched for by the police.

The case was registered at Paschim Vihar East Police Station after the incident came to light on May 19, when a distress call alerted authorities about an injured boy found in the Meera Bagh drain area. Police reached the spot and shifted the victim to Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital in Mangolpuri, where doctors confirmed that he had sustained multiple stab wounds.

Before losing consciousness, the victim reportedly identified Monu and Shivam as his attackers, which helped police establish the initial direction of the investigation.

Planned conspiracy over family dispute

During interrogation, Monu allegedly confessed that the attack was premeditated. Police stated that the accused and his cousin Shivam were upset over the victim’s alleged relationship with Monu’s sister. This anger reportedly escalated into a conspiracy to eliminate the teenager.

On May 18, the accused allegedly contacted the victim and lured him under the pretext of having a conversation. The boy was taken to the drain area near Najafgarh-Nangloi Road via Bakkarwala Mor, where he was attacked multiple times with a knife. Police said the assailants believed the victim had died and then dumped him into the drain before fleeing the scene.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Sanjeev Yadav stated that the attackers intended to ensure death before abandoning the body to conceal evidence.

Criminal background of accused

Investigators also revealed that Monu has a prior criminal record involving multiple cases, including armed robbery and assault. He had recently been released from prison after serving time in earlier cases.

Police teams continue to search for Shivam, who is believed to be directly involved in planning and executing the attack. Further investigation is underway to determine the full sequence of events and whether additional individuals were involved.

The incident has raised concerns over rising instances of personal disputes turning into violent crimes in the city, prompting intensified policing in the area.
