Maha Kumbh 2025: 5 Crore Devotees Take Dip, Total Crosses 20 Crore

Mahakumbh Nagar witnessed a monumental moment on January 28, 2025, as over five crore devotees took a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam, marking the highest single-day turnout in the ongoing Maha Kumbh. This historic day precedes the sacred Mauni Amavasya Amrit Snan, which is anticipated to draw an even larger crowd.

According to the Uttar Pradesh government, the total number of pilgrims attending the Maha Kumbh has already crossed the 20-crore mark. By 8 PM on Tuesday, a staggering 4.83 crore devotees had completed their ritual bath at the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati rivers.

Record-Breaking Attendance
The government reported over three crore devotees performing the holy dip on Sunday and Monday combined. Mauni Amavasya alone is expected to see a turnout of 10 crore pilgrims, with the overall attendance for the Maha Kumbh predicted to exceed 45 crore by its conclusion.

1.7 crore on Paush Purnima
1.74 crore on the previous Sunday
1.55 crore on Monday

The crowd includes ‘kalpvasis’, saints, and devotees from across India and abroad, totaling 10 lakh kalpvasis alone.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s Greetings
On the eve of Mauni Amavasya, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath extended his heartfelt greetings to devotees. In a message shared on social media platform X, he expressed his prayers for the unity of the nation and blessings for all attendees.

He wrote:
“Heartfelt greetings and best wishes to all revered saints, devotees, and pilgrims participating in the great festival of Sanatan Dharma, Maha Kumbh 2025, on the occasion of Mauni Amavasya. My warm regards to the ‘kalpvasis’, saints, and devotees who have come to Prayagraj for the divine, grand, and digital Maha Kumbh 2025 to attain the supreme purity of ‘Amrit Snan’.”
