United States Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Allison Hooker will visit New Delhi and Bengaluru from December 7 to 11, the US Embassy announced. The visit aims to further strengthen the US-India strategic partnership, deepen economic and commercial ties, and explore opportunities for collaboration in emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence and space exploration.
In New Delhi, Under Secretary Hooker is scheduled to meet senior Indian officials, including Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, to discuss regional security, economic cooperation, and shared priorities in the Indo-Pacific through Foreign Office Consultations. In Bengaluru, she will visit the Indian Space Research Organisation and meet leaders from India’s space, energy, and technology sectors to foster innovation in US-India research partnerships and explore expanded cooperation.
The visit aligns with US President Donald Trump’s priorities of a strong US-India partnership and promoting a free and open Indo-Pacific. It follows the 21st Meeting of the India-USA Joint Working Group on Counter-Terrorism and the 7th Designations Dialogue held on December 3, during which both nations reaffirmed their commitment to combating terrorism globally.
India and the US condemned terrorism in all forms, including cross-border attacks, and called for the designation of ISIS, Al-Qa’ida affiliates, Lashkar-e-Tayyiba, and Jaish-e-Mohammad under UN sanctions. The discussions emphasized holding perpetrators accountable, referencing the Pahalgam attack on April 22 and the Red Fort incident on November 10.
These engagements highlight the breadth of the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership and underscore ongoing efforts to expand cooperation in security, technology, and economic growth.
