India Bans 16 Pakistani YouTube Channels Over Misinformation After Pahalgam Attack

In a strong response to the recent wave of provocations, India on Monday banned 16 Pakistani YouTube channels for spreading communally sensitive content, misinformation, and propaganda against India. The move, taken on the recommendation of the Ministry of Home Affairs, follows the devastating terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, where Pakistan-backed terrorists killed 26 civilians, including tourists.

The banned channels include prominent Pakistani media outlets and individual content creators such as Dawn News, SAMAA TV, ARY News, BOL News, Geo News, and influential commentators like Irshad Bhatti, Umar Cheema, and Asma Shirazi. The Indian government accused these channels of inciting violence, spreading fake narratives, and attempting to destabilize peace within India, especially in the aftermath of the terror attack.

The Pahalgam attack on April 22 was the deadliest assault in Jammu and Kashmir since the 2019 Pulwama tragedy, where 40 CRPF jawans were martyred. The recent attack has reignited public anger across the nation, with massive protests demanding that India take stricter action against Pakistan. Demonstrations were also seen in major cities worldwide, showing solidarity with the victims.

Adding to the tensions, Indian Army officials reported that Pakistani troops continued ceasefire violations for the fourth consecutive night in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch and Kupwara districts. Using small arms, Pakistani forces engaged in unprovoked firing along the Line of Control (LoC), further escalating hostilities between the two nuclear-armed neighbors.
