CM Atishi reaffirms AAP’s commitment to promises ahead of Delhi polls

Ahead of the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections, Chief Minister Atishi has reinforced the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) commitment to fulfilling its promises to the electorate. During a recent ‘padayatra’ in the Tilak Nagar constituency, Atishi stated that if re-elected in February, the party would ensure the implementation of key initiatives, including a monthly allowance of ₹2,100 for women in the capital.

Atishi’s remarks came as part of a broader city-wide campaign aimed at connecting with voters and strengthening support for the AAP. She took the opportunity to highlight the achievements of the AAP government, asserting that under the leadership of Arvind Kejriwal, the party has consistently delivered on its promises. “Unlike other parties, Kejriwal has always worked for the common man. We delivered on promises that others claimed were impossible—such as ensuring round-the-clock electricity even during peak summers,” she stated, emphasizing the party’s track record.

In a recent announcement, former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal unveiled the Mukhya Mantri Mahila Samman Yojna, which promises an initial monthly assistance of ₹1,000 to eligible women, with a pledge to increase this amount to ₹2,100 after the elections. Atishi assured the gathering that as soon as Kejriwal is re-elected, the AAP would implement this financial support promptly.

During her speech, Atishi expressed confidence in the party’s historical support from the Tilak Nagar constituency, stating, “The people of Tilak Nagar have always supported us in 2013, 2015, and 2020. I am confident that you will once again vote for us in February.” AAP has re-nominated Jarnail Singh, its three-time sitting MLA from Tilak Nagar, who previously won by a substantial margin in the 2020 elections.

As the AAP seeks a third consecutive full term in Delhi, the upcoming elections will serve as a crucial test of the party’s governance model. The party achieved a remarkable victory in 2020, winning 62 out of 70 seats, and is now focused on consolidating its base ahead of the polls. In contrast, the Congress party has fielded PS Bawa as its candidate, while the BJP has yet to announce its contender for the Tilak Nagar seat.

As election day approaches, the AAP is gearing up to engage with voters, highlighting its achievements and promises in hopes of securing another mandate to govern the capital.
