IMA Urges Health Minister JP Nadda to Ensure Safety for Women Doctors After Kolkata Rape-Murder Incident

The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has penned a letter to Union Health Minister JP Nadda, demanding immediate action to enhance the safety of women doctors across the country. This appeal comes in response to a recent and heinous incident in Kolkata, where a young woman doctor was brutally raped and murdered, sending shockwaves throughout the medical community and the nation at large.

The IMA, representing over 3 lakh doctors in India, expressed deep concern over the increasing number of violent crimes against women in the healthcare sector. The association also suggested the installation of CCTV cameras on hospital premises, the deployment of security personnel, and the establishment of emergency helplines for women doctors.
