The Indian Air Force (IAF) is all set to commence its largest air combat exercise, Tarang Shakti 24, starting on August 6. This biennial event, known for its scale and complexity, will span over two weeks and is expected to see participation from several allied nations.

The Tarang Shakti 24 exercise will involve over 200 aircraft, including fighter jets, transport planes, and helicopters, showcasing the IAF’s operational capabilities. Key aircraft such as the Sukhoi Su-30MKI, Mirage 2000, and the newly inducted Rafale jets will be part of the drills. The exercise will be conducted across various air bases in India, with a focus on integrating combat strategies, enhancing interoperability, and strengthening defence coordination among participating countries.

International participants in this year’s exercise include the United States, France, the United Kingdom, Australia, and Japan, among others. This multinational engagement underscores India’s commitment to fostering global defence partnerships and enhancing collective security measures in the region.

Air Chief Marshal Rakesh Kumar Singh Bhadauria highlighted the importance of Tarang Shakti 24, stating, “This exercise is crucial for testing our preparedness and interoperability with our global allies. It not only strengthens our defence capabilities but also reinforces our commitment to maintaining regional peace and security.”

The exercise will feature complex air combat scenarios, including simulated dogfights, air-to-ground missions, and aerial refuelling operations. It aims to provide invaluable experience to IAF pilots and ground crews, enhancing their tactical skills and operational readiness.
