Ex-Agniveers to Receive 10% Reservation and Age Relaxations in CISF, BSF, RPF

The Indian government has announced a 10% reservation and age relaxations for ex-Agniveers seeking to join the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Border Security Force (BSF), and Railway Protection Force (RPF). This initiative aims to provide enhanced career opportunities for those who have served in the Agnipath scheme, facilitating their transition to other security forces.

The Agnipath scheme, introduced to recruit young soldiers for short-term service in the armed forces, has seen a significant number of participants, known as Agniveers. Recognizing their valuable experience and skills, the government has decided to extend preferential treatment to these individuals in the paramilitary recruitment process.

As per the new policy, ex-Agniveers will be eligible for a 10% reservation in the CISF, BSF, and RPF recruitment drives. Additionally, they will benefit from age relaxations, allowing them to apply even if they exceed the typical age limits set for these forces. This measure is expected to provide a smoother transition for Agniveers, ensuring their continued contribution to national security.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah highlighted the importance of this initiative, stating, “The Agniveers have demonstrated exceptional dedication and patriotism during their service. This reservation and age relaxation policy will not only honor their commitment but also strengthen our paramilitary forces with experienced personnel.”

The announcement has been met with widespread approval from various quarters, including military veterans and policy analysts. Retired Major General K.K. Singh commented, “This is a commendable step by the government. It acknowledges the sacrifices and efforts of the Agniveers while addressing the growing need for experienced personnel in our paramilitary forces.”

The new policy is expected to come into effect immediately, with detailed guidelines to be issued shortly. Recruitment drives for the CISF, BSF, and RPF will incorporate these changes, ensuring that ex-Agniveers can take advantage of the new provisions without delay.
