The ‘Lalbaugcha Raja’ is an illustrious Lord Ganesha idol enshrined in Lalbaug, a prominent locality in Mumbai, during the revered festival of Ganesh Chaturthi.
During his visit, Anupam Kher donned an olive green T-shirt paired with cream trousers, exuding simplicity and devotion.
The history of the ‘Lalbaugcha Raja’ is steeped in tradition and renowned as the cherished Ganesh idol of Lalbaugcha Raja Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal, established in 1934. The Kambli family has faithfully cared for the Lalbaugcha Raja Ganapati idol for over eight decades.
The unveiling of Lalbaugcha Raja’s first look occurred earlier on Friday evening, preceding the Ganesh Chaturthi festival. Ganesh Chaturthi, a ten-day festival, commences on the fourth day of the Hindu lunisolar calendar month ‘Bhadrapada.’ This year, the festivities commenced on September 19 and extended from ‘Chaturthi’ to ‘Anantha Chaturdashi.’
The festival symbolizes the earthly arrival of Lord Ganesh, who bestows blessings upon devotees for ten days before returning to his celestial abode on ‘Kailash Parvat,’ reunited with his divine parents, Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati.
On the professional front, Anupam Kher recently featured in the Extraction series titled ‘The Freelancer.’ His upcoming project, ‘The Vaccine War,’ is scheduled for release on September 28. Additionally, he will be seen in his 528th film, a Telugu period drama titled ‘Tiger Nageswara Rao,’ set in the 1970s and centred around a notorious and courageous thief portrayed by Ravi Teja and the people of Stuartpuram. The film was written and directed by Vamsee, produced by Abhishek Agarwal, and presented by Tej Narayan Agarwal.
Furthermore, Kher has completed filming for ‘Calorie,’ directed by Canadian filmmaker Eisha Marjara, in Amritsar, Punjab.
