Two Palestinians Killed By Israeli Fire In The Occupied West Bank

In a tragic turn of events, the Palestinian Health Ministry reported that two Palestinians were killed by Israeli fire in the occupied West Bank. A 23-year-old man was shot dead in Tulkarem, while a 25-year-old lost his life during a strike in Jenin, where Israel had launched a significant operation earlier this month.

The ongoing violence in the West Bank has intensified since Hamas’s attack on October 7, 2023, which sparked a larger conflict. According to the ministry, over 800 Palestinians have died since the escalation began. Many of those casualties appear to be militants killed during Israeli arrest raids, though the toll also includes civilians caught in violent protests.

According to the Shin Bet security service and local police, the arrests followed videos that showed the men celebrating by waving Hamas flags and firing guns into the air.

The authorities indicated that such celebrations violated a ban on expressions of joy and identification with Hamas imposed since the ceasefire commenced. During the arrests, officials uncovered Hamas flags, posters, fireworks, a BB gun, and cash.

This ceasefire agreement entails the release of 33 hostages taken during the initial Hamas attack in exchange for the release of hundreds of Palestinian prisoners. The Palestinian perspective often views these prisoners as heroes, fighting against what they perceive as Israel’s long-standing occupation of their lands.
