Israeli security forces revealed on Monday that they had successfully prevented an Iranian assassination plot targeting a senior Israeli defence scientist and a mayor of a major city. According to the Shin Bet (Israel’s internal security service), the suspects involved were linked to Iran’s Quds Force, a covert unit of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), which has a history of conducting foreign operations.
