India Rebukes China Over Pakistan Support Claim During Operation Sindoor, Warns on Global Reputation

India has issued a sharp diplomatic rebuke to China following Beijing’s reported admission that it provided technical assistance to Pakistan during the 2025 military confrontation linked to Operation Sindoor, escalating tensions in an already sensitive regional security environment.

Addressing the weekly media briefing in New Delhi, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said the international community is closely observing how global powers align themselves in matters linked to terrorism and cross-border security.

“We have seen reports that corroborate what was known earlier. It is for nations that consider themselves responsible to reflect on whether supporting attempts to protect terrorist infrastructure affects their reputation and standing,” Jaiswal stated, responding to questions on Chinese media reports.

The remarks come after reports that China acknowledged providing on-site technical support to Pakistan during the four-day conflict that followed India’s military response under Operation Sindoor. The operation was launched after the deadly Pahalgam terror attack 2025 in which 26 civilians were killed.

India has consistently described Operation Sindoor as a precise, calibrated and multi-domain military response aimed at dismantling cross-border terror infrastructure allegedly operating from Pakistani territory. Officials have maintained that the strikes were defensive in nature and targeted only terror-linked assets.

Jaiswal reiterated that India’s actions were rooted in national security imperatives. “Operation Sindoor was a precise, targeted, and calibrated response to terrorist attacks in Pahalgam, aimed at destroying state-sponsored terrorist infrastructure operating out of Pakistan,” he said.

The diplomatic exchange has drawn further attention after Chinese state media reportedly aired comments from an engineer associated with the Aviation Industry Corporation of China, suggesting involvement in technical support activities during the conflict period. The report also referenced Pakistan’s use of Chinese-origin J-10CE fighter jets, developed by AVIC subsidiaries.

The developments mark a fresh flashpoint in India-China-Pakistan relations, with New Delhi signalling that external military or technical support to Pakistan during conflict situations will be viewed through a broader geopolitical and reputational lens.

India has also used the moment to reiterate its long-standing position that counter-terror operations will continue irrespective of external diplomatic alignments, while warning that such associations may have long-term consequences on global credibility.
