Social Welfare minister from AAP Cabinet ,Rajendra Pal Gautam attended a mass conversion event on October 5 under banner “Mission Jai Bhim” in Delhi where 10000 people took an oath to convert to Buddhism and denouncing Hindu deities.
As the video went viral on Friday, many BJP leaders and many people on twitter launched an attack on Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal from AAP for hurting Hindu Sentiments. A Delhi BJP delegation also met the New Delhi deputy commissioner of police and filed a complaint against the minister.
Rajendra Pal Gautam shared his resignation in a 2 page letter and took it to twitter. In the letter he shared on twitter, he states “I do not want my leader Shri Arvind Kejriwal or the party to be in any trouble because of me. I am a true solider of the party and I will follow the ideals shown by Baba Saheb Ambedkar and Gautam Buddha throughout my entire life”.
Speaking after his resignation, AAP Minister Rajendra Pal Gautam said, “such issue has been created out of oaths that are repeated by several crore people of country. BJP has made it an issue, are trying to insult me & my party.”
