Yellow Alert Issued for Heavy Rain in Himachal Pradesh: 15 Roads Closed

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for heavy rain in Himachal Pradesh over the next four days. This warning comes as the state prepares for a significant spell of monsoon activity, with authorities urging residents and tourists to exercise caution.

According to the IMD, the heavy rainfall is expected to affect several districts, potentially leading to disruptions in daily life and travel. The alert highlights the possibility of landslides, flash floods, and waterlogging in low-lying areas, which could pose risks to safety and property.

In response to the alert, local authorities have taken precautionary measures to mitigate the impact of the adverse weather. Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has appealed to residents and tourists to stay informed about weather updates and adhere to advisories issued by the authorities. “The safety of our people is our top priority. We urge everyone to avoid unnecessary travel and take necessary precautions during this period of heavy rainfall,” said Sukhu.

Emergency services, including the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and local police, are on high alert to respond to any incidents arising from the inclement weather. Temporary shelters and relief centres have been set up in vulnerable areas to assist those affected by the rains.

Tourists visiting popular destinations like Shimla, Manali, and Dharamshala are advised to monitor weather conditions closely and avoid venturing into high-risk areas. Travel agencies and hotel operators have also been instructed to keep their guests informed about the situation and assist them in making safe travel decisions.
