Patna: Janshakti Janata Dal (JJD) chief Tej Pratap Yadav on Saturday revealed that his security cover has been upgraded to Y-Plus following credible threats to his life. Speaking to reporters in Patna, Yadav expressed deep concern over his safety, saying, “My security has been increased because there is a threat to my life. People will get me killed. There are many enemies.”
The Union Ministry of Home Affairs reportedly approved the enhanced protection after security agencies submitted a threat assessment. Under the upgraded arrangement, a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) team will now provide Yadav with round-the-clock protection.
Tej Pratap Yadav’s remarks come ahead of the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, in which he is contesting from the Mahua constituency. The seat witnessed its first-phase polling on November 6, where Yadav faced stiff competition from NDA candidate Sanjay Kumar Singh of Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), Jan Suraaj’s Indrajeet Pradhan, and RJD’s Mukesh Kumar Raushan, fielded by his brother Tejashwi Yadav.
The former Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader, expelled from both the party and his family by Lalu Prasad Yadav, launched the Janshakti Janata Dal after parting ways with RJD. Since the announcement of his new party, Yadav has remained a prominent figure in Bihar politics, often drawing media attention for his statements and political moves.
Earlier this week, Yadav was spotted greeting BJP MP Ravi Kishan at Patna airport, sparking speculation about political alignments. Addressing the encounter, Yadav clarified that the meeting was purely coincidental, saying, “It is a coincidence that I am meeting BJP MP Ravi Kishan again after meeting him yesterday.”
With the elections approaching, Yadav’s emphasis on his security highlights the heightened tensions and political rivalries in Bihar, reflecting the volatile atmosphere as leaders prepare for the assembly polls.
