Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday issued a powerful message to the perpetrators and sponsors of the Pahalgam terror attack, vowing that India would not rest until every terrorist and their handlers are brought to justice. Addressing a public gathering in Madhubani, Bihar, on National Panchayati Raj Day, the Prime Minister’s voice rang with emotion and resolve as he paid tribute to the 26 victims of the attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam.
“Today, on the soil of Bihar, I say to the whole world — India will identify, trace, and punish every terrorist and their backers. We will pursue them to the ends of the Earth,” PM Modi declared, drawing loud applause from the crowd.
The Pahalgam attack, which targeted civilians including tourists and security personnel, has sparked national outrage and condemnation. Modi, who also observed a moment of silence for the victims, said the spirit of India remains unshaken by terror.
“Terrorism will not go unpunished. Every effort will be made to ensure justice is done. The entire nation is one in this resolve,” he said.
The Prime Minister led the crowd in a solemn minute of silence, urging the nation to stand in unity with the families of those lost. “Let us all stand together in this moment of grief and observe a one-minute silence… to pay homage to the family members whom we lost in the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22,” he said, concluding with the chant of “Om Shanti.”
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar echoed the Prime Minister’s sentiments, condemning the attack and expressing solidarity with the victims. “This is a very sad incident… We extend our condolences to the families of the victims. The whole nation is standing against terrorism,” he said.
In the wake of the attack, the Centre has convened an all-party meeting in Parliament at 6 pm on Thursday to deliberate on the security situation and future countermeasures. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is expected to chair the session.
