Fresh CCTV footage from Surat railway station has emerged as a key piece of evidence in the investigation into the shooting incident involving Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff in Mumbai. The footage shows three alleged assailants rushing through the railway station to board a train, hours after shots were fired at the actor’s vehicle in the city.
The three suspects were arrested in Rajasthan’s Kota on Monday morning, October 19, after a joint operation involving railway police and local authorities. According to officials, the men were allegedly planning to escape to Nepal through Delhi after travelling out of Mumbai.
Shroff escaped unhurt when three motorcycle-borne assailants allegedly opened fire at him on Sunday evening. The incident occurred in Mumbai’s Juhu area as the actor was leaving a club in his car after playing football. Two other people, including his driver, were reportedly injured in the firing.
CCTV Footage Shows Suspects Rushing Through Surat Railway Station
The CCTV footage from Surat railway station captures the three men moving hurriedly through the premises as they attempted to catch their train. Two of the suspects can be seen wearing white shirts, while the third is dressed in a blue T-shirt and carrying a bag.
The footage shows the men walking quickly outside the station before making their way onto the platform. They are subsequently seen rushing past other passengers, with two of them running ahead and the third following closely behind.
Investigators examined surveillance footage from multiple locations to establish the suspects’ movements after the shooting. The recordings from Surat proved crucial in helping police trace the men and identify their onward journey.
According to a Western Railway official, a team comprising personnel from the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) was constituted following inputs from the Mumbai Police.
“ The surveillance footage was checked at various stations after which they were tracked from Surat railway station,” the official said, adding that the joint team apprehended the suspects in Kota the following morning at approximately 10:15 am.
Suspects Travelled From Mumbai to Surat Before Boarding Train
According to preliminary information shared by railway officials, the three men travelled by road from Mumbai to Surat before boarding the Pune-Jaipur Express, train number 12939.
The suspects were detained from the train’s general coach when it arrived at Kota railway station on Monday morning. The RPF’s Kota division had received information from the Mumbai Police Crime Branch regarding the presence of the alleged assailants on the train in connection with the Juhu firing incident.
Acting on the information, a joint team checked the train upon its arrival and detained the three men before they could continue their journey.
Police are investigating whether the suspects were acting on instructions from others and what prompted the alleged attack. The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, and their alleged involvement is being examined as part of the ongoing investigation.
Who Are the Three Suspects in the Tiger Shroff Shooting Case?
The accused were initially identified as Rehan alias Sukka, 18, a resident of Sonipat in Haryana; Ritwik Kurmi alias Roshan Fighter, 22, reportedly from Bihar and residing in Andheri West; and a third individual whose identity was initially withheld.
Police subsequently clarified that none of the three accused was a minor. The third suspect was identified as Phool Singh, aged 18.
Investigators are examining the backgrounds of the accused and their possible links to the shooting. Reports have also indicated that one of the individuals was associated with app-based mobility platform Rapido.
Rapido Issues Statement After Reports Link Individual to Platform
Responding to media reports, Rapido expressed concern over the incident and relief that Tiger Shroff had escaped the firing unharmed.
The company said the individual mentioned in reports had not been active as a captain on its platform since October 14. It added that the person had used Rapido’s services as a customer on the day of the incident.
The spokesperson further stated that the company was cooperating with the authorities and had shared the information requested by investigators.
Rapido reiterated that it had zero tolerance for violence or criminal activity and would continue to extend its full cooperation to the investigation.
The arrests in Kota mark a significant development in the case, with CCTV footage, railway surveillance and coordination between police units helping investigators trace the suspects across state lines. Authorities are continuing their probe to establish the circumstances surrounding the shooting, the motive behind the attack and the extent of each accused person’s alleged role.
The suspects’ culpability will be determined through the ongoing investigation and legal proceedings.
