A violent clash over water supply from a well has claimed three lives and left four others injured in Bavi village, located in Maharashtra’s Dharashiv district. The tragic incident occurred late Sunday night, January 5, following a heated dispute between two groups of distant relatives.
According to local police, the altercation arose over the distribution of water for agricultural fields. Tensions escalated quickly, culminating in a violent confrontation that tragically ended in the deaths of three individuals, identified as Appa Kale, Sunil Kale, and Vaijanath Kale.
Four others sustained injuries in the scuffle and were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital. Among them, one remains in critical condition, said an official.
In response to the incident, Dharashiv police detained 10 individuals suspected of involvement in the clash. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the matter to determine the exact sequence of events and hold those responsible accountable.
This incident highlights the ongoing challenges surrounding water scarcity in rural Maharashtra, where disputes over access to essential resources often lead to violence.
BJP leader shot over parking dispute
In a separate incident, a violent altercation over a parking issue in Jammu resulted in the death of a BJP youth leader. According to police, government employee Ravinder Singh fatally shot Advocate Kanav Sharma in the New Plot area of Jammu after a confrontation escalated.
The incident occurred on Friday when Sharma attempted to park his vehicle outside the Power Development Department lineman’s quarters, leading to a heated argument with Singh. During the scuffle, Singh reportedly drew his licensed pistol and fired two rounds at Sharma.
Sharma was rushed to Sarwal Hospital for first aid and later transferred to GMC for advanced treatment. Meanwhile, Singh fled the scene but was apprehended following a police manhunt. The weapon used in the crime has been recovered, and investigations are ongoing.
Both incidents underscore the rising tensions over seemingly minor issues, often escalating to tragic outcomes.
