Former Karnataka DGP Om Prakash stabbed to death: Wife and daughter booked for murder

In a shocking case of domestic violence turning fatal, former Karnataka Director General of Police (DGP) Om Prakash was found murdered at his residence in Bengaluru on Sunday night. According to preliminary police investigations, the 66-year-old retired IPS officer was allegedly stabbed eight to ten times with a knife by his wife, Pallavi.

The crime took place at their home in HSR Layout and came to light when Om Prakash’s son, Kartikesh, received a call from a neighbour informing him that his father was found lying in a pool of blood. When he rushed home from the Karnataka Golf Association in Domlur, he found police officers at the scene, along with a broken bottle and a bloodied knife near his father’s body. Om Prakash was later taken to St John’s Hospital, where he was declared dead.

Kartikesh filed a complaint with the police, alleging that Pallavi had been threatening to kill his father for several days. Due to these threats, Om Prakash had temporarily moved to his sister’s residence. However, his daughter Kriti reportedly went there two days prior to the murder and convinced him to return home against his wishes.

Investigations also reveal a history of domestic discord. Officers said that the couple frequently argued, and tensions had escalated recently. One officer disclosed that Pallavi had earlier posted in an IPS officers’ WhatsApp group, claiming Om Prakash had pointed a pistol at her and threatened to kill her.

Disputes over property also reportedly added to the tension. Om Prakash had bought a plot in his sister’s name, and Pallavi was allegedly pressuring him to transfer it to her. Another property in their son’s name was also a source of conflict.

Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara confirmed the murder and stated, “Only a detailed investigation will bring out the truth.” Pallavi and Kriti have been booked for murder under Section 302 of the IPC. The case continues to unfold as authorities dig deeper into the family’s troubled dynamics and motive behind the killing.
