Rumours have been swirling around Jharkhand’s political circles regarding the possibility of former Chief Minister Champai Soren joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Soren, a key leader of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and a prominent figure in the state’s political landscape, has finally broken his silence on the matter.
In a recent press interaction, Soren addressed the speculations head-on. He firmly denied any plans of switching allegiance to the BJP, calling the rumours “baseless” and “unfounded.” He stated, “I have been, and will continue to be, committed to the values and mission of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha. My focus remains on the development of Jharkhand and the welfare of its people.”
Soren’s clarification comes at a time when political alliances and party dynamics are under intense scrutiny in Jharkhand. With elections on the horizon, any shift in allegiance by a leader of Soren’s stature could have significant implications for the state’s political landscape.
Observers had speculated that the former CM’s move to the BJP could potentially consolidate support for the party in regions where JMM traditionally holds sway. However, Soren’s statement suggests that such a realignment is not on the cards.
The former CM also criticized what he termed as “political propaganda” aimed at creating confusion among the electorate. He urged the public to remain vigilant and not be swayed by rumours, emphasizing his unwavering loyalty to the JMM.
