The Delhi Police have registered eight First Information Reports (FIRs) following bomb threats targeting more than 90 flights across various airlines. The threats, received over the past few days, have caused significant concern among security agencies, passengers, and authorities.
According to officials, the threats were communicated through anonymous emails and phone calls, which prompted an immediate response from airport security teams. The affected flights were grounded or delayed as a precautionary measure, causing disruptions at multiple airports. Special teams, including bomb squads and cyber units, have been mobilized to ensure the safety of passengers and to trace the origin of these threats.
A senior police official confirmed that all threats are being treated with the utmost seriousness, and no chances are being taken regarding public safety. “The investigation is ongoing, and we are collaborating with various agencies, including the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and intelligence units, to track down the source of these threats.”
So far, no explosives have been found on any of the flights, but the panic has led to heightened security measures at airports across the country. Police are exploring multiple leads, including the possibility of coordinated hoaxes aimed at causing chaos.
Passengers at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport expressed concerns over the delays but appreciated the security precautions being taken. “It’s scary, but I’m glad they are taking it seriously. Safety comes first,” said one traveller waiting to board a delayed flight.
As the investigation intensifies, the police urge the public to remain calm and cooperate with authorities. Airlines have also been advised to strengthen security protocols while working closely with law enforcement to ensure passengers’ safety.
The Delhi Police’s cyber unit is currently analyzing the digital footprints associated with the threats to identify those responsible. In the meantime, flights have resumed normal operations, though heightened security checks remain in place.
Authorities continue to investigate whether this series of bomb threats is connected to any broader criminal activity or a terror network. With airport security on high alert, the probe is expected to lead to further actions in the coming days.
