The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the elevation of two distinguished High Court judges to the apex court. Justices A.B. Pandey and C.D. Sharma have been chosen based on their exemplary judicial records and contributions to the Indian legal system. The recommendations, made on Wednesday, now await approval from the President of India.
Justice A.B. Pandey, currently serving in the Delhi High Court, is known for his expertise in constitutional and commercial law. His judgments in high-profile cases have garnered wide appreciation for their clarity and depth. Justice C.D. Sharma, hailing from the Bombay High Court, has made notable contributions in the areas of criminal and environmental law. The Supreme Court Collegium, comprising Chief Justice of India E.F. Ghosh and senior judges G.H. Iyer and I.J. Verma, conducted a comprehensive evaluation of several candidates before finalizing their recommendations. The selection process took into account various factors, including seniority, merit, and regional representation.
