The Union Budget 2024 has brought significant financial upliftment for Ladakh, with a substantial 32% increase in its allocation compared to the previous fiscal year. This surge in funding is part of the central government’s focused efforts to enhance the region’s infrastructure, tourism, and sustainable development.
One of the primary reasons for the increased allocation is the government’s commitment to developing Ladakh’s infrastructure. The rugged terrain and harsh climatic conditions have long posed challenges to connectivity and development in the region. Tourism, a vital sector for Ladakh’s economy, stands to gain immensely from the increased budget. Local leaders and residents have welcomed the increased funding, expressing hope that it will address long-standing developmental challenges. “This budget allocation is a positive step towards bridging the developmental gaps and providing better opportunities for our people,” said Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, MP from Ladakh.
