BJP Accuses Rahul Gandhi of Skipping Greeting to President Murmu, Calls it Arrogance

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has accused Rahul Gandhi, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, of showing “dynastic entitlement and arrogance” after he allegedly failed to greet President Droupadi Murmu during her address to Parliament on Constitution Day.

BJP spokesperson CR Kesavan criticized Gandhi’s behaviour, claiming it reflected an air of entitlement. “Such is the dynastic entitlement and arrogance of Rahul Gandhi, he does not bother to wish the Hon’ble Rashtrapati,” Kesavan said on X.

BJP leader Amit Malviya also shared a video of the incident, attributing Gandhi’s actions to arrogance and suggesting that he failed to greet President Murmu due to her tribal background. “Rahul Gandhi is so arrogant that he did not even greet the President. Just because she comes from the tribal community, is a woman, and Rahul Gandhi is the prince of Congress? What kind of a cheap mentality is this?” Malviya posted in Hindi on X.

Pradeep Bhandari, another BJP leader, accused the Gandhi family of harbouring animosity towards tribals. “Everyone greeted the President of India, except Rahul Gandhi! Why does the Vadra-Gandhi family hate tribals so much? Rahul Gandhi is anti-tribal!” he said.

The controversy unfolded as President Murmu addressed a joint sitting of Parliament on Constitution Day, where she emphasized the importance of the Indian Constitution in shaping the nation. “Seventy-five years ago, the Constitutional Council completed a major task of creating a Constitution for a newly independent country in this very centre,” she said.

Murmu also commended the government’s efforts, highlighting the steps taken for the welfare of all sections of society, particularly the weaker sections, with a focus on providing homes and world-class infrastructure to the poor.
