Amid raging row, NTA announces fresh exam dates, UGC-NET to be held from Aug 21-Sept 4

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced new dates for the University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC-NET) amidst a growing controversy surrounding the examination schedule. The revised dates for the exam are from August 21 to September 4, providing a fresh timeline for aspiring candidates.

The announcement comes after weeks of debates and concerns raised by students and educational institutions regarding the previous scheduling conflicts and logistical issues. The NTA’s decision aims to address these concerns and ensure a smoother conduct of the examination process.

The UGC-NET, which qualifies candidates for the roles of Assistant Professor and Junior Research Fellowship in Indian universities and colleges, holds significant importance for thousands of students across the country. The previous schedule faced backlash due to overlapping dates with other major exams and festivals, leading to widespread dissatisfaction and calls for rescheduling.

In response to the uproar, the NTA has assured that the new dates have been carefully selected to avoid any further conflicts. The agency emphasized its commitment to conducting the exams in a fair and transparent manner, taking into consideration the feedback from various stakeholders.

“The NTA is dedicated to ensuring that all candidates have a fair opportunity to participate in the UGC-NET. We have taken all necessary steps to address the concerns raised and are confident that the revised schedule will be more accommodating for all aspirants,” said an NTA spokesperson.

The NTA has also advised candidates to regularly check the official website for any updates and detailed instructions regarding the examination. Admit cards for the new exam dates will be made available shortly, and students are encouraged to download them as soon as they are released.

This decision has been met with a mix of relief and cautious optimism among students and educators. While many are pleased with the revised dates, there remains a call for continued vigilance and support to ensure that the exams are conducted without any further disruptions.
