In a significant step towards bolstering India’s defence against aerial threats, Adani Defence & Aerospace, in collaboration with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), unveiled a state-of-the-art Vehicle-Mounted Counter-Drone System at Aero India 2025. This marks a major milestone in India’s efforts to develop cutting-edge, indigenous defence technology.
Launched by Dr BK Das, Director General (Electronics & Communication Systems) at DRDO, the event saw the presence of defence experts, industry leaders, and government officials. The system is designed to combat the growing use of drones in modern warfare, providing critical protection against reconnaissance and offensive aerial attacks.
The newly developed counter-drone platform ensures long-range protection, agility, and precision. Mounted on a 4×4 vehicle, it offers a highly mobile and self-sufficient solution for countering drone threats. Key features of the system include:
- High-energy laser system for precise drone neutralization
- 7.62 mm gun for aerial threat engagement
- Advanced radar, SIGINT, electro-optical sensors, and jammers for real-time target acquisition and tracking within a 10 km range
- Automated detection, classification, and neutralization of enemy drones
Speaking on the occasion, Ashish Rajvanshi, CEO of Adani Defence & Aerospace, highlighted the success of India’s defence innovation ecosystem. “This unveiling is a testament to DRDO’s world-class R&D and the success of the Transfer of Technology (ToT) framework. We are committed to providing our armed forces with the most advanced Indigenous defence technologies to safeguard the nation’s strategic interests,” he said.
Dr. BK Das emphasized the importance of this system in addressing asymmetric threats. “The introduction of the Vehicle-Mounted Counter-Drone System is a crucial step in enhancing India’s defence preparedness. DRDO remains committed to developing next-generation indigenous solutions in collaboration with Indian industry to strengthen national security.”
As drone warfare continues to evolve, this system is expected to play a pivotal role in securing both defence and civilian assets. The collaboration between Adani Defence & Aerospace and DRDO showcases India’s commitment to self-reliance in defence technology and reinforces its position as a key player in the global aerospace and defence sector.
