Three Pakistani terrorists linked to the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) militant group were killed in a fierce encounter with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district. The operation, which lasted several hours, involved the coordinated efforts of the Indian Army, CRPF, and local police.
According to a senior police official, the encounter began late last night when security forces, acting on specific intelligence inputs, launched a search operation in the Tral area of Pulwama. The terrorists, upon being cornered, opened fire, prompting the forces to retaliate.
“Three terrorists belonging to the Jaish-e-Mohammed outfit have been neutralized. They were involved in several terror activities and were a significant threat to the peace and security of the region,” said Inspector General of Police (IGP) Vijay Kumar. “The operation was executed with precision, and no civilian casualties have been reported.”
The slain terrorists have been identified as Pakistani nationals, highlighting the persistent infiltration attempts from across the border. Security forces recovered a cache of arms and ammunition from the site, including assault rifles, grenades, and other warlike stores.
This encounter comes amid heightened security measures in the region, with the government stepping up its counter-terrorism operations to thwart infiltration attempts and safeguard the local population. The success of this operation is seen as a significant blow to the JeM network operating in the region.
Local residents were advised to stay indoors during the operation, and authorities ensured minimal disruption to civilian life. The area has been cordoned off, and a search operation is ongoing to ensure no other militants are hiding in the vicinity.
The successful operation has been lauded by top officials, with Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha praising the bravery and dedication of the security forces. “Our security forces are relentlessly working to ensure the safety and security of our citizens. This operation is a testament to their unwavering commitment,” Sinha said in a statement.
