Official sources have stated that the crypto common framework, which has been approved by the participating countries, may end up being one of India’s presidency of the G20’s key accomplishments.
“G20 nations agree on a global framework for regulation of crypto assets,” according to sources. Further discussion will take place during the leaders’ summit. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) and Financial Stability Board (FSB) have published a synthesis paper and produced a comprehensive framework.
The sources continued, “Indian G20 Presidency recommended having a common framework for resolution of debt vulnerability where it also addressed debt vulnerability of nations like Zambia, Ghana, and Ethiopia along with support for Sri Lanka from outside the framework.”
Several working groups have recommended changes to Multilateral Development Banks (MDBs), according to sources.
“Working groups have provided recommendations to handle potential financial difficulties, and MDBs are eager to put those ideas into practice. According to the sources, there has been an agreement to establish a USD 200 billion fund to cover funding needs over the course of the next ten years.
The sources went on to emphasize that the G20 countries have rated food and energy security as having a high degree of instability. “More cooperation and stability in food and energy security, which is essential for sustainable growth, has been stressed by the G20 under India’s presidency, and it will be discussed during the leaders’ summit scheduled to be held later this week in the national capital,” sources stated.
According to the sources, India’s recommendation for a pillar taxation system on international taxation during the G20 Presidency has resulted in “significant progress” in that area.
The G20 Summit is expected to take place in India on September 9–10 in New Delhi. Notably, India took over the G20 presidency on December 1 of the previous year, and over 200 G20 meetings were scheduled across 60 locations in India.
The culmination of all G20 processes and talks among ministers, senior officials, and civil society will take place during the 18th G20 Heads of State and Government Summit in New Delhi.
At the conclusion of the New Delhi Summit, a G20 Leaders’ Declaration expressing the Leaders’ commitment to the issues discussed and decided upon throughout the relevant ministerial and working group meetings would be approved.
