As Pakistan grapples with a deteriorating law and order situation, a shocking incident has unfolded in the Shah Faisal town of Karachi, where over 70 factory workers fell victim to a daring looting spree by motorcycle-riding dacoits. This alarming incident took place on Wednesday, as reported by ARY News.
The audacious dacoits targeted a bus carrying workers from a leather factory. After stopping the bus, they made off with the belongings of all the passengers, including their mobile phones. Among the 70 industrial workers who were robbed, eight were female, and the remaining 62 were male. Upon the arrival of the bus driver at the scene, a First Information Report (FIR) was filed with the police, as detailed in the report by ARY News.
This recent incident is yet another grim reminder of the persistently poor law and order situation in Pakistan. Just days ago, on September 7, a father-son duo met a tragic fate in Karachi’s Korangi district when they were brutally killed by armed robbers during a robbery attempt.
According to Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) Korangi, the father-son duo, identified as Muhammad Hassan (70) and Asad (37), lost their lives while resisting the robbery in their bookshop. The horrifying incident was captured on CCTV footage, which showed three armed robbers entering the bookstore and opening fire on the victims when they refused to comply with the assailants’ demands.
Furthermore, in August, a taxi driver named Mumtaz was fatally shot by unidentified assailants for failing to stop his vehicle during a robbery attempt near Karachi. The incident occurred as Mumtaz was transporting passengers from Jinnah International Airport to New Karachi.
Pakistan is currently grappling with a series of crises, including a food shortage, devaluation of the rupee, electricity shortages, and a surge in violent attacks. These challenges have contributed to a rising crime rate in the country, causing grave concern among its citizens.
Authorities are under increasing pressure to address the growing lawlessness and insecurity plaguing Pakistan, as incidents like the looting of factory workers continue to highlight the urgent need for improved security and law enforcement measures.
