The Nepal Police has issued a statement expressing deep sorrow over the loss of lives during the Gen Z-led protests held on January 23 and 24.
In a press release from the Secretariat of the Inspector General of Police, the force described the events as “unexpected and tragic,” highlighting that they have raised grave concerns regarding national security, crime prevention, and social order.
“The untimely loss of lives due to the incident is extremely tragic and saddening. This incident has disrupted peace, harmony, and the environment of coexistence,” the statement noted.
The police extended heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and appealed to all citizens to act responsibly in restoring calm and stability. “Through mutual understanding and peaceful cooperation, Nepal Police sincerely requests everyone to contribute towards maintaining safety and trust,” the release said.
Reaffirming its commitment, the Nepal Police stated it remains fully dedicated to safeguarding public security, preventing crime, and upholding law and order, while urging the public to support its mission for peace and stability.
