Everyone’s favorite troublemaking duo, Lilo and Stitch, are back in Disney’s highly anticipated live-action reimagining of the 2002 animated classic. The new film aims to capture the heartwarming story and lovable characters that made the original such a beloved favorite, blending nostalgia with fresh energy for both longtime fans and new audiences.
The live-action version features an exciting mix of familiar and new talent. Chris Sanders, the original voice of Stitch and the film’s creator, reprises his role as the mischievous alien. Making her acting debut as Lilo Pelekai is eight-year-old Hawaiian newcomer Maia Kealoha, bringing authenticity to the character’s roots. Sydney Agudong stars as Lilo’s older sister, Nani, while original cast members Tia Carrere, Amy Hill, and Jason Scott Lee return in their roles, adding continuity and depth to the remake.
Fans are eager to know when they can watch the film without leaving home. According to Forbes, Disney is expected to release the live-action Lilo & Stitch on its streaming platform Disney+ approximately three months after the movie hits theaters. This suggests a streaming debut around late August or September 2025, giving fans plenty of time to enjoy the film on the big screen first.
For those who don’t want to wait, the film will likely be available for digital purchase or rental on popular video-on-demand platforms such as Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, and YouTube TV. Films generally become available digitally about 45 to 65 days after their theatrical release, which places the earliest digital release date around early July 2025.
However, Disney might extend the theatrical run if the film performs well at the box office, potentially delaying the digital and streaming release. Either way, fans can look forward to experiencing Lilo and Stitch’s latest adventure very soon—whether at the cinema, on their screens at home, or both.
