Every Memorial Day weekend, Jones Beach on Long Island comes alive with its spectacular annual air show — and 2025 is no exception. Scheduled for Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., the event is set to dazzle thousands of spectators with an impressive lineup featuring the iconic US Air Force Thunderbirds as the main attraction. Alongside the Thunderbirds, several elite military demonstration teams will take part, making it a patriotic spectacle not to be missed.
Jones Beach Air Show marks the informal start of summer and draws nearly 250,000 attendees eager to witness the breathtaking aerial stunts. Entry to the event is free, but parking will cost $10. George Gorman, regional director of New York State Parks, told CBS News, “You get such a feeling of awe inspiring. Our military jet performers show the public this is what we are.” Many attendees described the experience as embodying the true American spirit, full of pride and admiration for the country’s military might.
Spectators can enjoy the show from various vantage points, including the beach itself or even aboard boats for a unique ocean-front view. Zach’s Bay is considered the best spot for those opting to watch from the water, providing an unmatched perspective of the aerial performances.
This year’s Four Leaf Air Show in Wantagh will not only feature the Thunderbirds but also a host of other military teams including the 106th Rescue Wing NY Air National Guard’s HC-130/HH-60 Demonstration Team, the US Coast Guard, the US Army Golden Knights Parachute Team, SUNY Farmingdale State College Flying Rams, and the US Navy F-35C Tac Demonstration Team. Among the highlights is the Navy’s Rhino Demonstration Team performing daring inverted maneuvers.
Lt. Col. Taylor Wright summed up the weekend’s spirit by promising “37 minutes of pride” through these incredible demonstrations of skill and precision. After the event, the Thunderbirds will continue their journey to the US Air Force Academy in Colorado, with stops planned at Dayton, Ohio, and Beale Air Force Base in California.
Whether you’re a military aviation enthusiast or just looking to enjoy a memorable Memorial Day weekend, the Jones Beach Air Show promises exhilarating entertainment and a heartfelt tribute to the nation’s armed forces.
