A video of outgoing US President Joe Biden seemingly wandering into the Amazon forest has gone viral, sparking widespread reactions on social media.
In the 13-second clip, filmed on Sunday after Biden’s press conference in Manaus, Brazil, the president is seen turning, waving to the crowd while standing on a platform wearing sunglasses and an outdoor shirt. Instead of continuing along the path, he appears to walk straight into the forest, prompting a wave of curious comments online.
The video was captured at the conclusion of a press briefing where Biden discussed his administration’s efforts in clean energy infrastructure and conservation. Following its release, the footage quickly garnered over 26 million views on X, with many users jokingly questioning where Biden was headed.
One user wrote, “Where is he going?” while another humorously remarked, “He’s really doing all the side quests now that he can retire.” Others joined in, asking, “Bruh, did he just wave bye and disappear into the jungle?” and “This man is so mysterious. Where could he be heading off to now?”
Critics, particularly from Donald Trump’s camp, have often seized on moments like these to portray Biden as being elderly and unfit for office. A similar incident in June was shared by the Trump campaign, where Biden was seen stepping away from the G7 leaders during a skydiving demonstration.
However, it’s clear from the full video that Biden did not “wander off” into the jungle, but instead took a different route that was not immediately obvious in the short clip.
