A former CIA officer has offered a chilling theory regarding the mysterious increase in recent drone sightings across the United States. Speaking during an interview with Fox News Live on Saturday, Laura Ballman, an ex-CIA operations officer, called on the federal government to provide clarity on the matter. She suggested that the unexplained drones might be part of a “classified exercise” authorized by President Joe Biden’s administration.
Ballman’s theory stems from her analysis of recent statements and the federal government’s subdued response to public concerns. “Now, in terms of who is behind this, deducing the statements that have been made by John Kirby, who has said that these objects are not operating illegally, coupled with the several op-eds that have been out the last 24 hours about the need to look at our detection systems, makes me think, perhaps, this is actually a classified exercise to test either evasion technology or detection technology in urban areas,” Ballman stated.
Federal Response: Dismissing Public Hysteria
Ballman’s remarks coincide with federal authorities dismissing public concerns over the sightings as an “overreaction.” On a Saturday call hosted by senior Biden administration officials, an FBI representative addressed the issue. “We’re doing our best to find the origin of that specific…those drone activities,” the official said, adding that only 100 out of 5,000 public tips warranted an investigation.
Despite this reassurance, Ballman criticized the lack of transparency. “In terms of why the federal government would not be more forthcoming, I’ve actually been troubled by that. If I were in a position to advise on this, I would say it’s time to become more transparent,” she added.
Public Reaction and Local Measures
Amid the rising concerns, local authorities have taken matters into their own hands. In New Jersey, where multiple sightings have been reported, a sheriff deployed a department drone to investigate, and Senator Andy Kim joined patrol efforts to monitor the skies.
The incidents have sparked nationwide debates about the potential implications of these drone activities and whether they signal a technological test or something more concerning.
