Donald Trump, never one to shy away from headline-making remarks, used his latest television appearance to heap praise on Fox News personalities Sean Hannity and Ainsley Earhardt. Speaking on Fox & Friends on August 19, the former president described their engagement as the “greatest relationship,” drawing lighthearted reactions from the co-hosts.
Trump’s comments came shortly after his meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, where discussions reportedly revolved around exploring a potential peace agreement with Russia. Despite the serious geopolitical backdrop, Trump devoted a significant portion of his appearance to celebrating the couple.
“There’s a guy named Sean Hannity. He might take a very lovely young lady that he knows very, very well to dinner in Washington — she’s sitting right next to you by the way,” Trump quipped, gesturing towards Earhardt, 48. He quickly clarified, “I don’t want to get him in trouble, so I better explain exactly.”
The 63-year-old Hannity, a longtime Fox host, and Earhardt, who co-hosts Fox & Friends alongside Lawrence Jones, confirmed their engagement during Christmas 2024. Trump congratulated them then, calling it a “deal made in heaven” on his Truth Social account. On air, he continued to highlight their bond, noting that they are “great people” and deserve to enjoy public life together without concern.
“Now they can go out in Washington, hold hands, walk down the street. They’re both superstars,” Trump said, adding that he didn’t want to see the couple “getting muffed” while spending time together.
The segment also featured guest host Charlie Hurt. At one point, Trump even teased the pair by asking who earned more money, prompting Lawrence Jones to repeatedly shift the conversation back to policy issues.
Hannity and Earhardt’s romance has long been a subject of speculation before they officially announced their engagement. Hannity was previously married to Jill Rhodes from 1993 to 2019, with whom he shares two children. Earhardt has been married twice before — to Kevin McKinney (2005–2009) and later to former Clemson University quarterback Will Proctor (2012–2019), with whom she has a daughter.
The couple has often credited their shared Christian faith as a foundation of their relationship, with Hannity proposing during a visit to their home church. Their families, including their children, have reportedly embraced the union with enthusiasm.
For Trump, the lighthearted praise came amid heavier discussions during the interview, which also touched on Vladimir Putin, federal oversight of Washington D.C., and ongoing international tensions. Yet his focus on Hannity and Earhardt’s relationship underscored his flair for mixing politics with personality-driven commentary.
