Mumbai’s DY Patil Stadium turned into a music paradise on March 14 as Dutch DJ Martin Garrix delivered a high-energy Holi concert. Best known for his global hit Animals, Garrix enthralled fans with a power-packed setlist featuring songs like Hurricane, Break Through the Silence, Wherever You Are, Drown, High on Life, and Tremor.
Welcoming the audience, Garrix wished everyone a “very happy Holi” and expressed his gratitude, saying, “Mumbai, thank you so f****** much for coming out here today. It means the world to me.”
Adding to the excitement, he reminisced about attending the Coldplay concert at the same venue earlier this year. “I was here for the Coldplay concert. I was standing somewhere over there. To be on stage right here tonight with you guys is a f****** dream come true. So make some noise for yourselves and happy, happy Holi.” He paid tribute to Coldplay by performing Sky Full of Stars, much to the crowd’s delight.
As a special act, Garrix brought American singer-songwriter MAEJOR on stage, further amplifying the energy. The highlight of the night came when he ended his two-and-a-half-hour performance with a breathtaking drone show, perfectly synchronized to his beats. As he performed Don’t Look Down and In the Name of Love, a heart-shaped drone formation illuminated the night sky. “Can you feel the love tonight, Mumbai?” he asked, leaving the audience in awe.
The biggest surprise of the evening came when Garrix invited Indian music icon Arijit Singh to join him on stage. The duo performed their newly released collaboration, Angel Eyes For You, sending fans into a frenzy. “Mumbai, I have a special surprise for you. Tonight, we could be angels for each other. Make some noise for Arijit Singh,” he announced.
The moment Arijit strummed his guitar, the crowd erupted in cheers. Performing from a stage set right in the middle of the audience, Arijit was soon joined by Garrix, who ran from the main stage to meet him. They exchanged a heartfelt hug while the drones transformed into a glowing angel, creating a surreal moment for the fans.
The concert, powered by BookMyShow, ended with a breathtaking fireworks display as the two musicians sang together, marking a perfect Holi celebration.
Leading up to the concert, Garrix documented his collaboration with Arijit on social media. He shared glimpses of his journey to Jiaganj, West Bengal, where Arijit resides. In a now-viral video, Garrix is seen crossing a river to reach Arijit’s home, calling it “the craziest transport I’ve ever had going to the studio.” The duo reportedly jammed for four consecutive days to produce Angels For Each Other.
Before the concert, Garrix embraced the Holi spirit with his team, cutting a cake and celebrating with colors and dhol. His Instagram stories captured the fun-filled moments, showcasing his love for Indian culture.
With his electrifying beats, heartfelt performances, and larger-than-life production, Martin Garrix’s Holi concert in Mumbai will be remembered as a festival highlight, bringing together music, technology, and celebration in a grand spectacle.
