Addressing the media, Admiral Singh revealed that the deployment is part of a comprehensive plan to fortify India’s maritime defenses against emerging threats, including the rising concerns of drone incursions and piracy activities. The six warships, armed with advanced anti-drone technology and piracy deterrent measures, have been strategically positioned to cover key maritime zones.
“The Indian Navy remains steadfast in its commitment to safeguarding our maritime interests. Recognizing the evolving nature of security challenges, we have deployed six warships equipped to counter threats posed by drones and piracy. This initiative is in line with our continuous efforts to strengthen the security architecture along our maritime borders,” stated Admiral Karambir Singh.
Sources within the Navy confirmed that the deployed warships are equipped with state-of-the-art radar systems, electronic warfare capabilities, and anti-drone measures to detect and neutralize any unauthorized aerial intrusions. Additionally, they are armed with anti-piracy assets, including armed security personnel and measures to deter and respond to piracy incidents effectively.
Admiral Singh also announced that more assets, including additional warships and specialized equipment, will be deployed in the coming weeks to further bolster India’s maritime security infrastructure.
The move comes at a time when the global maritime landscape is witnessing an increase in unconventional threats, including the use of drones for surveillance and potential security breaches. The Indian Navy’s proactive approach underscores the importance of staying ahead of these challenges to safeguard the country’s economic and strategic interests.
