Actor Ajay Devgn recently opened up about the shifting dynamics in Bollywood, emphasizing how much more discerning and less forgiving today’s audience has become. Reflecting on his own journey, Ajay noted that the film industry has grown more competitive, placing greater pressure on new talent to excel from the very start.
During the trailer launch of his upcoming film Azaad, Ajay highlighted how the learning curve for actors has changed dramatically. “Back in the day, we used to work and learn simultaneously on any film. There was much time and liberty to learn many things. The audience was forgiving, and our mistakes were overlooked,” he shared.
Ajay acknowledged that times have changed significantly, adding, “Today’s audience is much more aware and unforgiving. That mounts so much expectations on the current crop of actors or the upcoming actors. They have to be prepared and deliver from the word go!”
Despite these challenges, Ajay lauded the younger generation of actors, saying, “I think this generation is far more prepared too. One strives to give their best in the end.”
Ajay Devgn’s upcoming film, Azaad
Ajay is gearing up for the release of Azaad, a period drama directed by Abhishek Kapoor. The film marks the debut of Ajay’s nephew, Aaman Devgn, and Raveena Tandon’s daughter, Rasha Thadani. Set in pre-Independence India, the story revolves around a dacoit, played by Ajay, and his bond with a loyal horse.
The trailer showcases a mix of intense drama, emotional moments, and thrilling action sequences. Alongside Ajay, the film stars Diana Penty as his love interest and Mohit Malik in a pivotal role. Produced by Ronnie Screwvala and Pragya Kapoor, Azaad explores themes of love, loyalty, and courage while shedding light on the dacoit and zamindari systems of the era.
Ajay shared his excitement about the project, reminiscing about the days when films featuring horses were common. “I thoroughly enjoyed working on this film and shooting with horses again,” he said.
