Aamir Khan, one of Bollywood’s most celebrated actors, recently shared a deeply personal account of his struggles with bad habits. During a candid conversation with veteran actor Nana Patekar, which was shared on Zee Music Company’s YouTube channel, Aamir revealed details about a challenging phase in his life when he battled excessive drinking.
The actor confessed that there was a time when he would drink all night, unable to moderate his consumption. “I am an extremist man,” Aamir admitted, explaining how his personality often leads him to overindulge in whatever he is doing. “It’s not a good thing, and I realize that. I also know I am doing the wrong thing, but I can’t stop myself.” While Aamir has successfully quit drinking, he revealed that he continues to smoke a pipe, acknowledging his ongoing struggle with certain habits.
Aamir also highlighted indiscipline as a significant challenge in his personal life, despite being known for his meticulous work ethic in films. When Nana asked whether he was punctual for shoots, Aamir assured him, “For my films, I am always on time. So I am not indisciplined when it comes to my work, but in my life, I am.”
The conversation delved into how Aamir maintains discipline during his film projects. He explained that while working on a film, he is “sharply disciplined,” suggesting that continuous work helps him combat his tendencies. Nana humorously proposed that Aamir should always stay busy with films, a suggestion to which Aamir agreed. He further shared his resolution to take on one film per year, contrasting with his previous pace of doing one project every three years.
Aamir’s fans can look forward to several exciting projects. He will next be seen in Sitaare Zameen Par, a sequel to the 2007 hit Taare Zameen Par. The film stars Aamir alongside Darsheel Safary and Genelia Deshmukh and is directed by RS Prasanna. Additionally, Aamir is producing Lahore 1947, featuring Sunny Deol, and Ek Din, starring his son Junaid Khan and Sai Pallavi. Earlier this year, Aamir’s production Laapataa Ladies, directed by Kiran Rao, represented India as an official Oscar entry but did not make it to the final shortlist for Oscars 2025.
Through his candid revelations, Aamir Khan has offered a glimpse into the personal challenges that shape him both as an individual and an artist. His journey of self-awareness and improvement serves as an inspiration to fans, underscoring that even the most successful stars face struggles and strive for growth.
